Program Vision

This Model Applied Horticulture Program is designed to operationalize real applied science concepts within Ethiopian universities. It moves beyond discipline-centered instruction toward functional systems, industry integration, innovation incubation, and climate-resilient production.

Goal: Transform horticulture education from content delivery → production system design → innovation and commercialization.

4-Level Applied Curriculum Architecture

Level 1 – Scientific & Technical Foundations

Functional plant systems, production physiology, applied biochemistry, genetics for improvement, seed systems.

Level 2 – Production & Protection Systems

Fruit, vegetable, stimulant crops, irrigation engineering, integrated pest management.

Level 3 – Technology & Value Chain Systems

Precision horticulture, postharvest engineering, export standards, cold chain systems.

Level 4 – Innovation & Enterprise Integration

Startup studio, venture design, industry-embedded capstone, climate-smart enterprise systems.
